01 — Overview
Overview
FactTerra ("we", "our", or "us") is a free, interactive world data platform available at factterra.com. We are committed to being transparent about how our website operates with respect to your privacy.
We do not require you to create an account, register, or provide any personal information to use FactTerra. This policy explains what data may be collected indirectly through the tools we use, and how it is handled.
02 — Data We Collect
Data We Collect
FactTerra does not collect, store, or process any personal data directly. We have no user accounts, no sign-up forms, no contact forms, and no databases of user information.
However, like all websites, certain non-personal technical data may be collected automatically by our hosting infrastructure and third-party services, including:
- IP address (used for geographic ad targeting by ad networks, not stored by us)
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages visited and time spent on the site
- Referring website or search query
This data is collected by third-party services described below and is governed by their respective privacy policies.
03 — Advertising
Advertising
FactTerra displays advertisements and travel-related offers to support the free availability of this service. We work with Google AdSense for general display advertising, and Travelpayouts, a travel affiliate network operated by Go Travel Un Limited, for flight, hotel, eSIM and travel-deal offers.
These services may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads relevant to your interests based on your browsing history, and to track referrals and attribute bookings made through affiliate links.
- Google AdSense uses the DoubleClick cookie to serve relevant ads. You can opt out via Google's Ad Settings.
- For visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, FactTerra uses Google's certified Consent Management Platform to request consent before Google ads are personalised, in line with IAB Transparency & Consent Framework requirements.
- Travelpayouts' own Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy describe how they process this data.
04 — Affiliate Links
Affiliate Links
Some links on FactTerra, including the travel offers described in the Advertising section above, are affiliate links served through the Travelpayouts network. This means that if you click on a link and make a booking or purchase, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.
05 — Third-Party Services
Third-Party Services
FactTerra relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each service is governed by its own privacy policy:
- Firebase Hosting (Google) — website hosting and content delivery. Firebase Privacy
- amCharts — interactive globe and map rendering library loaded from their CDN
- flagcdn.com — flag images served from a third-party CDN
- Google AdSense — display advertising (see Advertising section above)
- Travelpayouts — travel affiliate network (see Advertising section above)
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before interacting with their services.
06 — Cookies
Cookies
FactTerra itself does not set any first-party cookies. However, third-party services embedded in the site — primarily ad networks — may set cookies on your device when you visit.
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings:
Please note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of advertising and some third-party features on this site.
07 — Children's Privacy
Children's Privacy
FactTerra is an educational resource intended for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through any third-party service embedded on this site, please contact the relevant third-party service directly.
08 — Your Rights
Your Rights
Depending on your country or region, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data under laws such as the GDPR (European Union) or CCPA (California). Since FactTerra does not collect personal data directly, most of these rights apply to data held by our third-party partners.
You have the right to:
- Opt out of personalised advertising via ad network settings
- Control cookies through your browser settings
- Request data deletion from third-party services by contacting them directly
- Contact us if you have questions about how data is handled on this site
For visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, FactTerra presents a consent message before Google-served ads are personalised, via Google's certified Consent Management Platform. This covers Google AdSense specifically; Travelpayouts' cookie practices are governed by their own policies — see the Cookies section above. You can also manage cookies at any time through your browser settings described above.
09 — Changes to This Policy
