Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a sovereign country located in the Lesser Antilles between Saint Lucia to the north and Grenada to the south. The nation consists of the main island of Saint Vincent and the northern two-thirds of the Grenadines, a chain of 32 smaller islands and cays. Of these, only nine are inhabited: Saint Vincent, Young Island, Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Mayreau, Union Island, Palm Island, and Petit Saint Vincent. The archipelago covers a total land area of approximately 389 square kilometers, with the main island accounting for roughly 88% of that territory. Its geography is defined by the transition from the high, rugged volcanic peaks of the north to the low-lying coral reefs of the southern Grenadines.

The political system is a parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarchy. As a Commonwealth Realm, the British Monarch is the head of state, represented by a Governor-General. Executive power rests with the Prime Minister, who is the leader of the majority party in the unicameral House of Assembly. The legislature consists of 15 elected Representatives and six appointed Senators. The country maintains a stable two-party system, historically dominated by the Unity Labour Party (ULP) and the New Democratic Party (NDP). Since independence from the United Kingdom in 1979, the nation has focused on regional integration, serving as a member of both CARICOM and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

Kingstown is the capital, largest city, and primary port of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Known as the "City of Arches" due to its numerous 19th-century stone archways, the town serves as the nation’s commercial and administrative center. It is located on the southwestern coast of Saint Vincent, sheltered by high hills. Kingstown is home to the oldest botanical garden in the Western Hemisphere (established in 1765) and the St. George’s Anglican Cathedral, which features a historic stained-glass window originally commissioned by Queen Victoria. The city's waterfront is a hub for inter-island ferries that connect the capital to the Grenadines, facilitating the movement of goods and people across the archipelago.
